The Creative Life of Artist and Photographer, Helena Moore

We love this community and are continually inspired by the work that you guys do and the passion you have for the projects you work on. That's why we are so excited to introduce artist and photographer, Helena Moore.

Her journey is truly inspiring. Enjoy the full interview below!

Where do you find inspiration for your work?

"I find inspiration in so many places. I love to look at the work of other artists and photographers to see the world through their eyes. I also find a lot of inspiration from everyday moments, the way the light comes through the window in the morning, the way yesterdays clothes are draped over the chair, or my kids telling secrets to our cat. Just the everyday memories."

When it comes to your photography, what is your favorite subject matter to shoot?

"My favorite things to shoot are those same things that inspire me. Capturing the feelings of the everyday. I also like to shoot portraits that show some emotion."

How would you describe your style?

"I've had people say that my photos are calming to them, I've also been described as moody. So I guess I'll describe my style as simple everyday moments with a moody calmness."

What would you say to artists that are struggling right now? How do you get out of a slump?

"To anyone that is lacking inspiration I would say go back to the images, or music, or places that give you the feelings you love. I keep Images, (some of my own, some from other artists) that I absolutely love. They take me back to a moment, or bring up an emotion, and when I'm feeling uninspired I go back to them, and realize that there are so many things and moments and little bits of magic to be captured and shared."

What does your typical day look like?

"On a typical day, my husband and I get our three kids off to school, then if I don't have any meetings or other places to be, I post and connect on Instagram then get to work on any creative ideas I might have for the day. I really feel like the morning is my most productive time for creativity, usually either drawing or taking photos, and the morning light just the best for great photos. After that my day gets pretty routine with housework and errands and other typical mom things. But I'm always noticing and pausing to capture those lovely and wonderful details of life along the way."

What does #mostwanteddreams mean to you?

"One of my #mostwanteddreams from a creative and social media perspective, is to inspire others to create and share in their own way, and to extend love to others in the process. To convey feeling through image, kindness and acceptance through words, and encourage and support the uniqueness of the creativity of others."
